We are pleased to invite artists ages 6–13 to participate in our special Lunar New Year Art Contest. This year’s theme is “馬到成功” (Success Upon Arrival), a traditional Chinese idiom representing swift achievement and victorious momentum with the arrival of the horse. Students are encouraged to interpret this theme in their own unique artistic style.
Participants are welcome to submit their best Year of the Horse–inspired artwork. Please review the guidelines below:
- Artwork must be original and created by hand (no AI‑generated or digital art)
- Any traditional medium is acceptable
- Pieces should be suitable for display in a gallery setting

Submission deadline: February 18, 2026
Winners will be notified by February 23, 2026
Two Age Categories:
- Elementary School: Ages 6 – 10
- Middle School: Ages 10 – 14
Accepted entries will be displayed at the CCBA Historic Building Gallery during the annual San Diego Chinese New Year Fair from February 28 – March 1 and top entries in each category will be awarded a $100 gift card.
